On August 31st Beijing time, the 10th round of the Jiangsu Super League began, with three matches finishing last night: Suqian defeated Huai'an 2-0, Yancheng suffered an upset 0-2 loss to Wuxi, and Taizhou and Changzhou drew 1-1. Consequently, the latest table shows Yancheng in fourth, Taizhou fifth, Wuxi climbing to sixth, and Changzhou near the bottom!
Suqian versus Huai'an. In this match, Huai'an once again showed weakness against a weaker opponent. In the first half, they conceded a penalty goal scored by Gao Chi. In the second half, Huai'an launched relentless attacks on Suqian but failed to capitalize, and were counterattacked in the final moments. Fu Xiaolong scored to seal the match, resulting in a 0-2 defeat for Huai'an. Their strength remains a mystery, currently winless in northern Jiangsu but unbeaten in southern Jiangsu!
Yancheng versus Wuxi. Wuxi drew 3-3 with strong team Xuzhou last round, and now faced another tough opponent, Yancheng, on back-to-back matches. The home side Yancheng struggled to score and were repeatedly punished by Wuxi’s counterattacks. Early in the game, Lin Ziqiang headed in the opener. In the second half, Yancheng bombarded the goal but failed to convert chances, and were eventually hit hard when Yu Zhicheng scored a brilliant backheel goal to seal the match. Yancheng suffered their first home defeat 0-2 to Wuxi, which was quite surprising. Wuxi’s play has improved significantly, gaining momentum and toppling strong teams to secure a solid top-eight position. Their technical skills and physicality are impressive, especially their midfield control is top-notch. Hopefully, the team continues to progress steadily!
Taizhou versus Changzhou. Changzhou won their first-ever match last round 1-0 against Zhenjiang, climbing off the bottom and achieving two goals at once. This round they challenged strong top-eight team Taizhou, with Huang Zichang making his debut. Taizhou took the lead early in the 5th minute with a quick goal by Batte. Huang Zichang then used his individual skill to constantly threaten Taizhou, earning a penalty in stoppage time which he calmly converted to equalize 1-1. Neither team scored in the second half, so the match ended in a 1-1 draw. Changzhou extended their unbeaten streak to two rounds. Huang Zichang’s arrival has greatly strengthened Changzhou; his impact is enormous!
