(Football result) - Real Madrid rallied to overcome Mallorca 2-1 at the Santiago Bernabéu during round 3 of La Liga 2025/26, thanks to strikes by Arda Güler and Vinícius after trailing early.
In the early hours of August 31, Real Madrid hosted Mallorca at Santiago Bernabéu in the 3rd round of La Liga 2025/26. Despite facing several challenges, the Royal Club secured all 3 points with a 2-1 win.
Mallorca unexpectedly took the lead in the 18th minute. From Pablo Torre’s corner kick, Vedat Muriqi rose high to head the ball accurately, opening the scoring for the visitors. However, Mallorca’s joy was short-lived. Within less than 20 minutes, Real Madrid exploded with two quick goals. In the 37th minute, Arda Güler capitalized on a mistake by goalkeeper Leo Román to head in the equalizer at 1-1. Just one minute later, Vinícius Jr dazzled with a precise long-range shot from outside the box, putting Real Madrid ahead 2-1.

In the second half, the home team continued to dominate the game. Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Jr repeatedly threatened Mallorca’s goal. In the 45+1 minute, Mbappé scored but the goal was disallowed for offside. Then at the 55th minute, Arda Güler appeared to have scored a brace with a follow-up shot, but after VAR review, referee Jose Sanchez ruled a prior handball foul, nullifying the goal.
In the final moments, Mallorca pushed hard for an equalizer but Real Madrid’s defense, led by Eder Militao, remained solid. Goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois also had a focused day with several crucial saves.
