Guardiola discarded him, but Moyes treasures him; Grealish has provided consecutive double assists in two Premier League matches.

The phrase "a change of environment brings new life" is truly apt for Grealish. Being Manchester City's record signing (118 million euros), he was totally discarded by Guardiola and wasn't even registered for the Club World Cup. This English forward found no opportunities to play at City, leading to his loan move to Everton this summer.

Grealish, rejected by Guardiola, has become a treasure under Moyes at Everton. This season, he has appeared in three consecutive Premier League matches. Except for coming off the bench in the first round when Everton lost 0-1 to Leeds, Grealish started the next two matches and delivered outstanding performances with multiple assists. In the last two rounds, he provided four assists, helping Everton secure two league victories: 2-0 against Brighton and 3-2 against Wolves, earning valuable six points.

At Manchester City, Grealish recorded only one assist in 20 Premier League games during the 2024-25 season and also just one assist in 20 games in the 2023-24 season. Now at Everton, in just three Premier League appearances (two starts) totaling 197 minutes, he has already delivered four assists—double what he achieved over the past two seasons combined. Grealish struggled at City, with no support in the middle and slow overall possession play, but at Everton's more direct and high-tempo style, his technical skills have flourished, resulting in consecutive matches with multiple assists.

Grealish’s contract with Manchester City runs until 2027, and Everton have the option to buy him for £50 million in next summer’s transfer window. By then, Grealish will be entering the final year of his contract, giving Everton leverage to negotiate with City. Discarded by Guardiola but valued by Moyes, Grealish has been reborn moving from Manchester City to Everton. If he maintains this form, he could represent England at the 2026 World Cup in the USA, Canada, and Mexico.
