Dani Carvajal expressed his strong desire to reunite with his Spanish national teammate Rodri at Real Madrid and called on the Manchester City star to join La Liga.
Real Madrid faces a major challenge in midfield as both Toni Kroos and Luka Modric have departed from Bernabeu. Kroos retired last summer, while Modric transferred to AC Milan this summer. This has left Los Blancos’ midfield lacking balance and competitive experience.
Throughout the recent transfer window, Real Madrid was reportedly searching for a quality "number 6" to stabilize their play. Angelo Stiller’s name was mentioned but no progress was made. Rodri, the midfield leader of Manchester City and Spain, was also on their radar, though no official move occurred.
During an interview on the program El Partidazo on COPE radio, Real Madrid captain Dani Carvajal revealed: “I’ve already spoken to him. I hope one day Rodri can wear the Real Madrid jersey because he truly is a top player. However, I understand that he has just returned from a long injury and wants to repay the trust Man City has placed in him.”
According to British and Spanish media, Man City is ready to offer a new contract to keep Rodri until 2029, aiming to block Real Madrid’s interest. Nevertheless, the Royal Club is expected to make a strong comeback in the 2026 summer transfer window to bring the 29-year-old star to Bernabeu.
Additionally, Carvajal shared his future plans as his career enters its final stage. Although still regarded as one of the world’s top right-backs, he acknowledged that Real’s signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold could impact his position.
However, Carvajal expressed his wish to enjoy every training session, every match, and even dreamed of a sweet scenario: “Winning a seventh Champions League title and the World Cup with Spain next summer? I’d sign for that immediately. I’d retire right here. No, actually, because I love football so much, I wouldn’t sign, but that would be a perfect ending.”
“Step by step, I’ve just been through a lot, so I want to enjoy every afternoon training because I’m genuinely happy. I want to savor it because when you get injured, you appreciate every training, every match, every meal with your teammates even more, and I want to enjoy all of that.”
