Manchester United’s internal leak resurfaces? Dressing room discontent over 3-4-3 tactics exposed, Sir Jim furious meeting Amroli

Following the loss to Manchester City, United must confront the upcoming game amid unrest. As anticipated, after the derby defeat, the week has been filled with bad news about Manchester United. There are ongoing rumors about Ruben Amroli’s potential sacking, players reportedly dissatisfied with the coach’s tactics, and The Athletic suspects that a once-quiet “mole” has resumed leaking secrets.

Candidates to replace Amroli have emerged one after another, while his 3-4-3 system has faced heavy criticism, with the biggest blow coming from leaks within the dressing room. According to the UK’s Daily Mail, United players are unhappy with Amroli’s system; it is understood that some players have struggled to adapt to the 3-4-3 formation, which Amroli has stubbornly maintained over the past year, refusing to consider changes.

British media reports that even one of Amroli’s staunchest supporters, captain Bruno Fernandes, is reportedly unwilling to drop back and play as a midfielder in the 3-4-3. This summer, the 31-year-old Fernandes received three offers from Saudi Professional League investors, but Amroli advised him to stay, and Fernandes has publicly supported his Portuguese compatriot coach. However, support does not mean he agrees to play a position he is not comfortable with.

Manchester United owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe believes that differing opinions within the team are normal—after all, how could a squad of thirty to forty people be free of conflict? The problem lies in the fact that what should have remained dressing room secrets were leaked to the British media, which has angered the club’s management.

Premier League transfer expert Graeme Bailey explained: “What angers Manchester United the most is the possibility of leaks happening again, especially seeing reports about players doubting Amroli or his tactics. The club believed they had completely stopped this behavior and see such incidents as utterly destructive to the team’s long-term plans. United firmly believes they are building for the future and will not allow internal dissatisfaction to harm the whole club.”

During the tenures of Mourinho, Solskjaer, and Ten Hag, Manchester United also experienced insider leaks, which undermined the authority of the former managers.

Currently, United’s top management insists they still trust Amroli and aim to create a supportive environment around him so all players work toward the same goal. Therefore, they are displeased with the atmosphere the British media is creating, especially since many rumors seem to originate from inside their own dressing room.

Earlier this year, during a round of layoffs at Manchester United, The Athletic warned club staff against leaking information to the media. They also strictly avoided revealing lineups before matches, and the club appeared to have controlled the situation in recent months. However, the season’s historically poor start, including a cup exit to a League Two side, has changed that.

Sir Jim and the Manchester United board now want to restore an image of calm, composure, and full control.

Bailey added: “Some believe United had a terrible start to the season, but there is no panic inside Old Trafford. The club trusts Amroli, sporting director Jason Wilcox backs him and has brought in the players he wanted. Although it’s not perfect yet, they believe the team is making good progress.”

However, just stating opinions is useless; United’s results are the core issue. If Amroli cannot quickly improve the team’s performances, he and the leadership under Sir Jim will become a laughing stock again. What’s the point of playing well without winning points?

According to “Athletic,” Sir Jim flew by helicopter to the Carrington training ground on Thursday to hold a series of meetings, including a discussion with Amroli.

Sources say this meeting was scheduled long ago, but the team’s worrying performances were a key topic, with Sir Jim hoping to work with Amroli to address the club’s problems.

British media reveal that Sir Jim believes Manchester United’s squad has the quality to compete for a Champions League spot, and at minimum must secure European qualification; otherwise, Amroli’s position will be untenable.
