Vietnam U17 girls had a memorable experience before concluding their training camp in Germany.
The Vietnam U17 women's team enjoyed a full day of activities in Bremen before wrapping up their training stint in Germany as part of the Bundesliga Dream program.
The players watched an exciting match live between the women's teams of Werder Bremen and Hoffenheim, and also toured Bremen city center, a place rich in German cultural and historical significance.
Earlier on September 18, the Vietnam U17 women's team played their final friendly match in Germany, losing 1-5 to the U17 Werder Bremen team. Despite the unfavorable result, this was an important experience for Coach Okiyama Masahiko and his squad to gain valuable lessons in preparation for the 2026 AFC U17 Women's Championship qualifiers in October.
U17 Werder Bremen demonstrated clear superiority with their strong fitness, speed, and modern technical skills. Their lineup included four players from Germany’s U17 national team: Matilda Schütte, Catelin Zimmermann, Zoe Meinke, and young goalkeeper Helene Hoffmann, creating a challenging match for Vietnam’s U17 women. Five goals were scored against Vietnam U17.
For Coach Okiyama Masahiko’s players, the sole goal was scored by Minh Ánh (25’). Although conceding multiple goals, the young players showed fighting spirit, especially with their teamwork and shooting efforts in the second half. This will serve as a basis for the coaching staff to adjust tactics, improve contesting ability, and capitalize on opportunities.
This friendly match was not only a test for Vietnam U17 girls during their training in Germany but also a “practical lesson” for the whole team to build resilience and get exposed to world-class youth football standards. These valuable experiences promise to boost motivation and confidence ahead of the upcoming 2026 AFC U17 Women's Championship qualifying campaign.
The training camp in Germany, based on cooperation between the Vietnam Football Federation and the German Football Association, is expected to be an important stepping stone to help the young U17 players build a solid foundation and aim for greater goals on the continental stage.
