Coach Chu Đình Nghiêm: 'Hai Phong performed excellently in controlling the game but...'

Coach Chu Đình Nghiêm offered an in-depth breakdown of Hai Phong's 2-2 tie with Ninh Binh at Lach Tray Stadium.

At their home ground Lach Tray, Hai Phong FC under Coach Chu Đình Nghiêm made a strong impression by halting Ninh Binh's winning streak with a 2-2 draw. Despite lacking many star players, Hai Phong has shown they are a challenging opponent.

Regarding the match, Coach Chu Đình Nghiêm stated: "Hai Phong performed very well in controlling the game today, but they were less effective in finishing the final plays despite dominating the match.

Both teams played with great effort and high technical quality. We deserved the three points in this match, but one point is acceptable as both sides gave their all," said Chu Đình Nghiêm.

"Ninh Binh had been unbeaten in their previous four matches, with four wins and many players capable of deciding the outcome. We focused on minimizing such situations. In the first half, Ninh Binh only had one or two chances near Hai Phong’s goal, which we failed to fully neutralize, leading to a goal conceded. Afterwards, when we regained control, we dominated the game and created many opportunities but lacked decisiveness in the final moments.

I observed Ninh Binh’s play; they have fast attacking players. They may concede possession but can shoot well from distance. I reminded Hai Phong’s defenders to stay focused, especially to limit Gustavo’s hold-up play enabling second-line runners to shoot. On the goal conceded from Geovane’s long shot, Hai Phong’s defenders were late to close him down. Ninh Binh has many stars, so newcomers like Thành Trung haven’t made much impact yet,”Coach Chu Đình Nghiêm thoroughly analyzed the match to learn lessons for future games.

Additionally, the Hai Phong FC coach praised the opposing goalkeeper Đặng Văn Lâm: "Văn Lâm played exceptionally well today, saving many shots. He managed to stop Luiz Antonio’s strike and Triệu Việt Hưng’s header,”

The draw gives Hai Phong 8 points, temporarily placing them 5th on the standings, three points behind 4th place Viettel Army but with one more game played.
