U23 Vietnam to participate in a friendly tournament before SEA Games 32

U23 Vietnam is set to join another friendly competition in China in November, just ahead of SEA Games 32.

As previously reported, at the 2026 AFC U23 Championship final round, Vietnam’s U23 team is placed in Group A alongside host Saudi Arabia, U23 Jordan, and U23 Kyrgyzstan. This group is highly competitive, but with thorough and well-planned preparation by the Vietnam Football Federation, the U23 team can confidently rely on their abilities.

Notably, during the crucial upcoming preparation phase, the Vietnam Football Federation has collaborated with the Qatar Football Association under the football development memorandum signed and implemented since 2023, enabling U23 Vietnam to have two quality friendlies against U23 Qatar during their training camp in the UAE in October 2025.

Following that, in November 2025, the team will participate in an international tournament in China under the football development memorandum directly signed by the presidents of both federations in August 2025. This tournament is expected to feature U23 China, U23 Vietnam, and two other strong U23 teams from the continent, offering an important opportunity for Coach Kim Sang Sik’s squad to refine tactics, complete the lineup, and gain experience ahead of major goals.

The team’s preparation has been proactively initiated by the Vietnam Football Federation from an early stage. In addition to adjusting the schedules of national professional leagues to align with the team’s activities, the core group of young U22 players has been given opportunities to train, concentrate, and compete internationally since late 2024.

This plays a vital role in helping the team secure their third consecutive championship at the Southeast Asian U23 tournament, while also building necessary momentum for two key objectives: SEA Games 33 at the end of this year and the AFC U23 Championship early in 2026.

The U23 Vietnam team will reconvene starting October 4th in Hanoi, alongside the senior national team during the FIFA Days in October 2025. This is part of the plan the Vietnam Football Federation established early to prepare for SEA Games 33 and the 2026 AFC U23 Championship final round.
