The ball’s name is derived from Spanish, meaning "3 waves," symbolizing the unity of the three host countries. Its design incorporates the colors red, green, and blue along with each nation’s emblem: Canada’s maple leaf, Mexico’s eagle, and the United States’ star.

The ball is constructed from four large panels sewn together with deeper seams and a textured surface, changes FIFA says enhance stability, grip, and control. Additionally, it features connected ball technology with an internal motion sensor to track touches in real time. This touch data is transmitted to the Video Assistant Referee system to assist with decisions, including offsides calls.

Speaking at the event, FIFA President Gianni Infantino stated: "This is a beautiful aspect of the World Cup ball. I am eager to see players score goals with this ball at the largest World Cup ever held."

The 2026 World Cup will be the first tournament expanded to include 48 national teams. The competition is scheduled to take place from June 11 to July 19 across 16 cities in North America.
