It is now impossible for Manchester United to sign the new Carrick in the January transfer window! Crystal Palace intends to renew his contract, and the release clause amount has been set.

Italian transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano disclosed that there is no possibility for Manchester United to bring in Adam Walton from Crystal Palace in January; the player is expected to complete this season at Selhurst Park. Whether he moves next summer will likely hinge on the transfer fee.

Manchester City coach Guardiola openly praised Walton: "Walton is an outstanding defensive midfielder. Under the previous Crystal Palace manager, he was already selected for the England national team. After moving from the Championship to the Premier League, his performance has been excellent, with superb left-foot technique—he is a fantastic player."

Top clubs like Manchester United, Liverpool, Chelsea, and even Real Madrid have their eyes on the 21-year-old Walton, but Crystal Palace holds the advantage with his contract running until 2029 and has no plans to negotiate any mid-season sales. "Crystal Palace has no intention of negotiating Walton’s transfer in the January window," Romano stated. "They want Walton to stay and become a truly important member of the club."

Walton joined Crystal Palace in February 2024 and has appeared 53 times so far, providing 6 assists. His style is considered similar to Manchester United legend Carrick. Romano mentioned that Crystal Palace will only consider selling him after the 2026 World Cup. He said, "Perhaps in the summer 2026 transfer window, after the World Cup, we will see if Walton stays. He has opportunities, and Crystal Palace will assess based on the offers received."

Rumors suggest Manchester United believe they can acquire Walton for just £60 million. Romano responded: "There are many rumors about Manchester United, and I can confirm they admire the player, but they are not the only ones. Believe me, many clubs appreciate him. Walton is highly valued and considered one of the most talented English players in his position. So, Manchester United is definitely interested, but no decisions have been made regarding bids or figures yet."

He added, "You could say £30 million, £40 million, £50 million, but at this point, it’s all speculation. Crystal Palace is determined to keep Walton this season, and the player is very focused on his performance this season. So, things are very calm right now. It’s normal that Manchester United and several other clubs admire him, but I think it is too early to fabricate stories at this stage. This is the current situation with Walton."

According to a report by "GIVEMESPORT," Crystal Palace has offered Walton a new contract, but the player insists on including a release clause before signing. Walton is believed to be happy at Crystal Palace, but having a clause allowing him the possibility of a future transfer would provide greater security for him.

This move might also have the backing of Crystal Palace chairman Steve Parish, who previously reached a similar agreement with Eze, ultimately securing a substantial transfer fee when selling him to Arsenal. It is said that a release clause between £70 million and £75 million is suitable for all parties involved, and Crystal Palace hopes to finalize this agreement.

The Daily Star reports that Manchester United manager Rúben Amorim is urging the transfer department to find ways to outbid rivals like Liverpool and Real Madrid to sign Walton. He believes this English powerhouse can replace Casemiro, whose contract expires at the end of this season. Given Casemiro will turn 34 and earns the highest weekly wage of £350,000, Sir Jim Ratcliffe is unlikely to renew his deal.

Walton’s own ambition, recently publicly revealed by Crystal Palace magnate Parish, is to play in the Champions League in the future, whether at Crystal Palace or another club. Therefore, Manchester United must qualify for the Champions League next season to have a chance to convince this Blackburn academy graduate in the transfer battle.
