Indonesia disappoints again, continuing to fail to beat India

The Indonesia U23 squad secured just a 1-1 draw versus India in the second match following their 1-2 defeat in the initial game.

The Indonesia U23 team could only hold India U23 to a 1-1 draw at Madya Stadium, Jakarta Center, on Monday evening (13/10/2025) in a friendly match preparing for the 2025 SEA Games. Both Indonesia and India launched continuous attacks in the first half but struggled to score.

Indonesia U23 had a golden chance to take the lead. However, Frengky Missa's powerful shot hit the crossbar of India's goal. India U23 nearly scored against Indonesia U23, but an outstanding save by goalkeeper Daffa Fasya denied Mohanan Vibin’s shot in the 39th minute.

Dony Tri Pamungkas scores a crucial equalizer for Indonesia U23

Just two minutes into the second half, India took the lead. Substitute Korou Singh broke the deadlock for Naushad Moosa’s team. However, the Indonesia U23 side did not give up. The "Young Garuda" equalized in the 71st minute thanks to a free kick from Dony Tri Pamungkas.

The young player from Persija Jakarta club scored again for Indonesia U23, having previously netted against India U23 in a prior friendly. The score remained unchanged until the final whistle. Indonesia U23 once again failed to beat India U23, this time settling for a 1-1 draw.

The match ended in a 1-1 draw between the two teams

In the first friendly at Madya Stadium on Friday (October 10, 2025), Indonesia U23 lost 1-2 to India U23. This was not a good start for Garuda Muda after parting ways with Dutch coach Vanenburg and appointing veteran coach Indra Sjafri. These two results demonstrate that Indonesia U23 still has much work to do to prepare for the 33rd SEA Games.

Indonesia U23 recently changed coaches, parting with Dutch strategist Gerald Vanenburg and placing trust in experienced coach Indra Sjafri. However, the team’s performance remained disappointing after losing to Vietnam U23 in the 2025 Southeast Asian U23 Championship final.
