Cristhian Mosquera caused a buzz by stating that Arsenal is nurturing a bright talent with a playing style similar to Lamine Yamal, that is Max Dowman - a 15-year-old prodigy from the Hale End academy.
For many years, Arsenal has been regarded as one of England’s top youth development centers, producing numerous talents from Hale End such as Bukayo Saka, Emile Smith Rowe, Ethan Nwaneri, and Myles Lewis-Skelly. Under coach Mikel Arteta, the philosophy of giving young players opportunities has been maintained and enhanced, helping the Gunners gradually build a solid foundation for the future.
However, according to Cristhian Mosquera - a young defender within Arsenal’s youth system - the current stars are just the beginning. He is particularly impressed by Max Dowman, an attacking midfielder born in 2009, regarded as the “new treasure” of Hale End.
“I’m not trying to compare, but his style and gameplay are exactly like Lamine Yamal. His movements, ball control, and game reading ability are truly remarkable,”Mosquera shared in an interview with The Athletic.
Dowman began attracting attention at just 14 years old, regularly called up to train with Arsenal’s U18 and U21 youth teams. At 15, the English player made his Premier League debut, becoming one of the youngest players in the history of the London club to appear in England’s top-flight competition.
Mosquera recalled: “When I arrived in Singapore, he was already training and playing with the team. I couldn’t believe he was only 15. He truly is an extraordinary player, and I believe Dowman will reach world-class level.”
The emergence of Max Dowman reminds Arsenal fans of Lamine Yamal, the young Barcelona star making waves in La Liga. Despite his youth, Yamal has become a key player for both Barca and the Spanish national team. With his potential, Dowman is expected to follow a similar path.
Not limited to domestic matches, Dowman is even predicted to break the Champions League record if he scores in the knockout rounds. That would make him the youngest goalscorer in the competition’s history, surpassing Youssoufa Moukoko’s record at 16 years old.
Hale End academy has produced internationally renowned players before, but Max Dowman is opening a new chapter for Arsenal’s youth football. With his talent, confidence, and maturity beyond his years, he could very well become “England’s Lamine Yamal” in the near future.
