The Vietnam U17 women's squad is committed to striving hard to qualify for the 2026 U17 Women's Asian Championship final stage.
In their opening match on October 13, coach Okiyama Masahiko's team defeated Guam decisively with a 5-0 scoreline, highlighted by Minh Ánh’s hat-trick and goals from Yến Nhi and Hồng Thái.
This result greatly opens the door for U17 Vietnam to reach the U17 Asian Championship finals held in China next April, and potentially the U17 Women's World Cup. Since only the group winners advance, the host team’s goal for the last match is nothing less than a victory.
Today, October 5, the Hong Kong (China) U17 women's team will play their opening match against U17 Guam. Meanwhile, since Group D has only three teams, coach Okiyama’s squad will have a rest this round. Coach Okiyama Masahiko will surely watch this match closely to devise the best strategies for his players.
Commenting on the Vietnam U17 women’s team performance in their opening game, the Japanese coach expressed his satisfaction:“I am pleased with the players. The positive outcome is that they kept a clean sheet and scored many goals. The players also effectively utilized set-piece situations as practiced. Although U17 Guam women are tall and physically strong, U17 Vietnam women confidently controlled and contested the ball thanks to their training camp in Germany against physically strong opponents, which boosted their confidence."
The match between the Vietnam U17 women's team and Hong Kong (China) U17 women will take place at 16:00 on October 17 at Gò Đậu Stadium.
