Despite Malaysia’s 5-1 win against Laos to stay at the top of Group F in the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers, the Ultras Malaya fans continue to insist that FAM clarify the reasons behind the ban on seven naturalized players.
The 5-1 victory over Laos at Bukit Jalil Stadium on the evening of October 14 helped Malaysia maintain their lead in Group F of the 2027 Asian Cup qualifiers with an impressive performance. Coach Peter Cklamovski’s team showed great resilience by making a successful comeback after being initially behind, winning both matches against Laos with a total score of 8-1. However, while the team was thriving, the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) faced harsh criticism from the loyal and passionate Ultras Malaysia supporters.
Malaysia’s Makarbola newspaper reported that immediately after the match, many Malaysian fans in the stands—especially in the curva section (where the most devoted supporters gather)—raised banners and loudly demanded that FAM address the issue of the 7 naturalized players banned by FIFA. On social media, the atmosphere was equally intense with numerous posts calling for transparency from the association instead of silence.
A group of supporters declared: “After 90 minutes, we returned to the curva not to sing or dance, but to assert our stance on the issue between FAM and FIFA. We are not blindly criticizing anyone. We speak out because the honor of Malaysian football must be protected—with genuine love for the sport, not blind loyalty or fanaticism.”
According to the fans, this is not an act of rebellion but a rightful voice demanding transparency for the country’s football scene. “True honor cannot be safeguarded by silence. It can only be preserved through integrity—without hiding mistakes or ignoring the public’s concerns,” the message widely circulated on various forums.
Currently, FAM is still awaiting a response from FIFA regarding the appeal against the ban on the 7 naturalized players. Meanwhile, Malaysia will face Nepal on November 18 before the “Group F final” against Vietnam on March 31, 2026. Will FAM have the courage to face and clearly explain the situation to the fans, or will they continue to remain silent?
