The Malaysian Football Association has not presented any evidence that Vietnam was the complainant regarding the unlawful naturalization to FIFA.
On the afternoon of October 17, the Malaysian Football Association unexpectedly held a press conference to clarify issues related to FIFA's sanctions concerning forged documents of seven naturalized players. In fact, the press conference did not reveal any new information about the most pressing issue currently, which is the appeal process.
However, the most notable information was that the Malaysian Football Association believes Vietnam was the party who reported the illegal naturalization of these seven players to FIFA. Yet, when asked about the basis for this statement, the Malaysian FA representative said it was purely speculative.
Mr. Datuk Sivasundaram, Vice President of the Malaysian Football Association, asserted: "We believe that Vietnam has lodged a complaint with FIFA." However, when reporters at the press conference asked for the evidence supporting this claim, Mr. Sivasundaram replied: "We have no certainty that Vietnam did this. But based on what has happened, the Malaysian FA speculates that Vietnam was responsible."
According to FIFA's announcement, less than a day after Malaysia’s 4-0 victory over Vietnam, a complaint was filed suspecting the Malaysian Football Association of illegally naturalizing these seven players. However, FIFA will keep the identity of the complainant confidential. It is known that FIFA’s investigation was conducted independently and was not related to the Vietnamese Football Federation.
Also during this meeting, the Malaysian Football Association (FAM) officially suspended Secretary General Datuk Noor Azman Rahman to allow an independent committee to handle FIFA’s recent sanctions against the association and the seven naturalized players.
The Malaysian Football Association stated that they have filed an appeal with FIFA and are conducting an internal investigation to identify the administrative errors that led to this issue. Previously, Datuk Noor Azman Rahman himself admitted to mistakes in the naturalization paperwork submission for the seven players mentioned.
