Nuengruethai Sathongwien, head coach of Thailand’s women’s football team, confirmed that she will not be complacent after seeing the draw results for the 2025 SEA Games women’s football event. She expects the friendly match with Bangladesh to help the team improve their level and prepare as best as possible for the upcoming competition.
On the afternoon of October 20th, Coach Nuengruethai Sathongwien (fondly called "Coach Nueng") and her players held their first training session at the Football Capability Development Center, Bangkok Thonburi University, in preparation for the international friendly scheduled during the October FIFA Day against Bangladesh’s women’s team on October 27th.

Coach Nueng said: "This training camp is part of our ongoing preparation plan towards the SEA Games, as we have limited time left – just over a month. The team is still finalizing personnel to build a stable core for the SEA Games campaign."
Regarding players currently playing abroad, she mentioned: "Most are familiar faces returning to serve the team. Previously, they were busy playing for their clubs and could not participate. This time coincides with FIFA Day, which is a good chance to test the harmony between domestic and overseas players and find the most effective ways to coordinate."
Commenting on the SEA Games 2025 draw, Coach Nueng said: "Many believe our group is not too tough, but Southeast Asian women's football has progressed very quickly. For example, Indonesia has prepared seriously by training in Japan and organizing their own friendly tournament to test their squad.
Therefore, we must not be complacent against any opponent. The most important thing is to prepare ourselves well. If the goal is to reach the final, the semifinal stage will be highly decisive – and we must start preparing now, especially in analyzing opponents."
Regarding the friendly match against Bangladesh, Nuengruethai Sathongwien emphasized: "The main goal is to improve fitness and strength, which is always the top priority. At the same time, we will try the playing style expected to be used at the SEA Games, monitor the progress of players – especially those who have trained continuously from short camps at Dynamic, at Rayong, up to now. Also, we need to observe the integration level of players from abroad. Coordination time is a key factor in building team cohesion. I also want the entire team to improve their finishing ability before entering the major tournament.
According to the plan, the Thailand women’s team will play an international friendly match against Bangladesh at 6:00 PM on October 27th at Chalerm Phrakiat Stadium, Bang Mod.
The match will be broadcast live on Facebook: FA Thailand, Thai Women’s Football, and YouTube: Chang Suek, as part of the preparation for SEA Games 2025, which Thailand is hosting.
