A Real Madrid star is approaching a return and is expected to be part of the lineup for the upcoming game versus Barcelona.
According to AS, Real Madrid received positive news as Trent Alexander-Arnold completed most of the training session with the team, raising hopes that he will feature in the Champions League match against Juventus this midweek.
The English defender has missed six consecutive games due to injury and was also unable to join the national team camp. His recovery is progressing well, and the Real coaching staff believe Alexander-Arnold could be named in the squad if he completes another training session without issues.
However, coach Xabi Alonso remains cautious. Trent has been sidelined for over a month, and although his return is timely, the staff must decide whether to start him or bring him on as a substitute.
With a packed schedule and the El Clasico approaching, Real’s current plan is to field him against Juventus to test his match fitness and form. The 1998-born star’s comeback also offers tactical balance thanks to his ability to distribute the ball from the back and move flexibly into central areas.
The return of the former Liverpool player also relieves defensive concerns for Real, who have had to rotate players frequently due to injuries. At the same time, Ferland Mendy has resumed full training and is ready to play against Juventus, allowing Alonso to rely on his preferred full-back duo during this crucial phase of the season.
Real Madrid must first overcome the challenge posed by Juventus in the Champions League before focusing fully on El Clasico. A victory against the Italian side would strengthen their top position and build positive momentum for the Barcelona encounter. Coach Alonso is expected to implement a sensible rotation policy, utilizing the returns of Trent and Mendy while carefully managing playing time.
Nevertheless, El Clasico remains the real highlight. Barcelona currently trails Real Madrid by only two points in the La Liga standings, and a loss could cost the Royal Club their lead.
