The sacred ground of U23 Vietnam is being upgraded to an enormous capacity

Viet Tri Stadium (Phu Tho) is set for a full renovation, raising its seating capacity to 35,000 with international certification, representing a major advancement in the region’s sports infrastructure plan.

Phu Tho football is on the brink of a major transformation as Viet Tri Stadium will be fully upgraded, expanding to 35,000 seats and meeting international standards. This project is part of the province’s sports infrastructure development strategy aimed at making Phu Tho a hub for regional and national sports events.

Currently, Viet Tri Stadium holds about 20,000 spectators and serves as the home ground for Xuan Thien Phu Tho Club competing in the 2025–2026 National First Division. Although modest in size, this stadium is regarded as a “stronghold” for Vietnam’s national teams, having witnessed an unbeaten streak across seven official tournaments held here.

Mr. Nguyen Van Ha – Director of the Phu Tho Provincial Sports Facilities Management Center stated that the upgrade plan will be implemented within the next 1–2 years. All stands will be fitted with hard seats and fully covered roofs, while functional areas will be expanded to support event organization. Auxiliary facilities such as training halls and the provincial swimming pool will also be renovated and equipped with air conditioning to meet professional competition standards.

Coach Le Quoc Vuong expressed his enthusiasm: “The home stadium upgrade is a positive signal for Phu Tho football. Modern facilities will provide better training conditions for players and motivate the local football development.”

Alongside the project in Phu Tho, in Hung Yen, the Ministry of Public Security has also commenced construction of a new stadium at the PVF Football Training Center, with a capacity of 60,000 seats and FIFA-standard design. The PVF stadium features an automatic dome that can open and close within 12–20 minutes and uses hybrid turf combining natural grass and synthetic fibers to enhance durability and ease of maintenance.

These two major sports facilities in Phu Tho and Hung Yen demonstrate strong investment efforts in northern Vietnam’s sports infrastructure. While the PVF stadium aims to become a leading youth training center, Viet Tri Stadium promises to become a new symbol, helping elevate Phu Tho football’s reputation regionally.
