Nottingham Forest Football Club has officially named Sean Dyche as the new head coach.
Nottingham Forest has officially appointed Sean Dyche as the team's third head coach this season, signing a contract until 2027, following the dismissal of Ange Postecoglou.
The decision came just minutes after a 0-3 defeat to Chelsea, with Postecoglou unable to secure a single win in eight Premier League matches during his 39 days in charge.
Previously, Postecoglou was chosen to replace Nuno Espirito Santo, who left the club in September. Now, Dyche takes over the managerial role at City Ground.
In a statement on their official website, the club said: "As an experienced and highly regarded Premier League manager, Sean Dyche brings the perfect mix of strong character, sharp tactical insight, and proven achievements to confidently lead Nottingham Forest into a new chapter.
A former player developed in Forest’s academy and currently living locally, Dyche deeply understands the club’s values, pride, and fighting spirit shared by both the team and its fans."
The management believes his appointment is the right move, opening the door for Forest to have a successful season and compete strongly in both domestic and European competitions."
According to sources from ESPN, Forest had considered inviting former Italy national team coach Roberto Mancini, while owner Evangelos Marinakis greatly admired Fulham’s Marco Silva. However, Silva would require a large compensation fee, whereas Dyche is currently available and ready to return.
Sean Dyche, who once played for Forest as a footballer, has experience managing Watford, Burnley, and Everton before leaving Everton in January 2025. He knows the club well and is expected to bring along his long-time assistants Ian Woan and Steve Stone, both also former Forest players.
Currently, the team ranks 18th in the Premier League standings and remains in the Europa League after finishing seventh last season.
