Neymar was directly taunted by Matheuzinho. The Brazilian icon quickly fired back with a furious post on social networks after Santos suffered a harsh loss to Vitoria.

Recently, Neymar attended the Vila Belmiro stadium to support Santos in their fight to escape the relegation zone, but the defeat to Vitoria left them struggling near the bottom of the table. Currently, Santos only stays above the relegation zone due to goal difference, sharing 31 points after 28 rounds with Vitoria.

The only goal of the match came from a penalty after goalkeeper Gabriel Brazao collided with Renzo Lopez inside the box. After reviewing VAR, the referee awarded Vitoria a penalty, and Matheuzinho calmly converted it into the center of the goal. Immediately after scoring, he celebrated by mimicking Neymar’s signature gesture (hands on head and tongue out), causing a stir in the stadium.

That image made the greatest scorer in Brazil’s history visibly furious as he watched the game from the stands.

This victory not only earned Vitoria three crucial points in the relegation battle but also marked a historic moment as it was their first ever win at Santos’ home ground. This further highlights the serious decline of Neymar’s team compared to their golden era.

Witnessing everything, Neymar (currently in his second spell at Santos) could not hide his anger. He sharply criticized the refereeing on social media after the match: “We need to professionalize refereeing in Brazil immediately!”

Previously, Neymar had repeatedly spoken out about numerous mistakes by referees and the VAR team, stating that inaccurate decisions could severely impact the fate of teams struggling at the bottom.

Neymar is still sidelined due to a hamstring injury, which has kept him out of Brazil’s national team since mid-September and prevented him from appearing under the new coach Carlo Ancelotti. His contract with Santos is nearing its end, and Brazilian media speculate that the star may return to Europe in the near future.
