Manchester United's 2-1 win against Liverpool lifted spirits for many, including manager Ruben Amorim, but despite Koby Meno and Zirkzee's excitement in celebrating the triumph at Anfield, the game confirmed their roles as consistent bench players.
Meno ranks behind the €60 million defensive midfielder Ugarte on the substitute list, while Zirkzee hasn't played at all since the 1-3 loss to Brentford last month and has yet to appear in any matches this October.
The likelihood of Zirkzee leaving Manchester United in January is steadily increasing; he has only played 74 minutes across eight Premier League games this season, with little hope for more playing time. Numerous interested buyers exist, with two La Liga clubs joining the race this week and holding talks with his agent, Holabchin.
Understandably, Zirkzee is deeply disappointed by the lack of playing opportunities and minutes. He remains willing to fight for his place, but leaving Manchester United is increasingly being considered. Previously, Real Betis showed interest first, and now their city rivals Sevilla have also extended an invitation.
According to Spain's "Fichajes Transfer Network," Zirkzee is seriously contemplating options to leave Manchester United. Sources suggest he might accept a loan to regain form and rhythm. With the 2026 World Cup in the US, Canada, and Mexico approaching, Zirkzee hopes to participate, but his lack of game time at United led to his exclusion from Ronald Koeman's recent Dutch national team squad.
Sevilla is prepared to sign the 24-year-old Manchester United forward on loan, but they want the Premier League club to cover part of his wages. Spanish media report that negotiations for Zirkzee's move to La Liga are in advanced stages. If he cannot secure more playing time in the next couple of months, a departure from Manchester United seems inevitable.
Fichajes reports that Serie A defending champions Napoli are also very close to finalizing a deal to loan 20-year-old academy star Meno from Manchester United. Meno has not started any of the eight Premier League matches this season and similarly longs to play in the World Cup, but given his current limited chances, he is unlikely to be selected by Tuchel, as England has many midfielders competing for spots.
With this in mind, Meno pushed for a loan move away from Manchester United during the summer, but the club rejected his request. Now, it is said that Napoli considers the negotiations progressing well, and if the January loan deal does not include a purchase option, the transfer is likely to happen.
If Manchester United loans out or even sells Zirkzee and Meno, or one of them, Amorim would gain funds and wage space to bring in a new midfielder better suited to his 3-4-3 formation in January. Transfers like Carlos Baleba, Adam Walton, or Elliot Anderson seem unlikely, but signing a cost-effective midfield reinforcement or loaning one is a real possibility.
There are even rumors linking Manchester United with Real Madrid forward Endrick, who might be loaned out. Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano confirmed Endrick is expected to leave Madrid in January, with the club's approval and ongoing negotiations. Like Zirkzee and Meno, his motivation is to get more playing time to boost his World Cup chances. However, the 19-year-old "new Ronaldo" joining United is unlikely, as he would also be a substitute at Old Trafford, which makes little sense.
