According to multiple sources, Coach Vũ Hồng Việt has bid farewell to Nam Định Club following a string of disappointing results in the 2025/26 season.
The latest update from VTV reveals that Coach Vũ Hồng Việt has ended his tenure with Thép Xanh Nam Định after a series of unsatisfactory matches since the season began. Despite heavy investment in the squad, the Nam Định team has struggled in the V-League, repeatedly drawing and losing against mid-tier opponents, currently sitting at 9th place in the standings.
On the international stage, Nam Định fielded an all-foreign lineup but failed to make a significant impact. Most recently, the reigning V-League champions lost 1-3 to Gamba Osaka in the ACL Two group stage on their home ground. Following this series of matches, Coach Vũ Hồng Việt has come under heavy pressure. Many Nam Định football fans have erupted demanding an urgent coaching change.
Coach Vũ Hồng Việt was the mastermind behind Nam Định’s back-to-back V-League titles in the 2023/24 and 2024/25 seasons. By the end of the 2024/25 season, he had managed 100 matches with Nam Định, achieving 52 wins and 22 draws. He was also honored as the best coach of the V-League 2023/24.
However, this season, the Nam Định team has sharply declined. Explaining the reasons, the Vietnamese strategist stated that Nam Định has been "worn out" due to numerous injuries, notably including Nguyễn Xuân Son.
In the upcoming November, Nam Định Club will face significant challenges across three consecutive competitions. If they fail to regain form, the team risks ending this season empty-handed.
