Two key pillars of MU who are currently in great form will be absent at the end of this year.

MU risks losing key players Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo during a crucial stage of the season.

MU players Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo will compete for their national teams in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) opening match on Christmas night this year.

Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo are likely to be absent from MU’s squad at the end of this year, as both have been called up by Cameroon and Ivory Coast respectively. Mbeumo is a striker for Cameroon with 26 international appearances and 7 goals, while Amad Diallo has played 9 matches and scored 2 goals for Ivory Coast.

Bryan Mbeumo and Amad Diallo will join their national teams for AFCON 2025.

These two forwards have combined well during MU’s recent resurgence under coach Ruben Amorim. However, Old Trafford is preparing for the possibility of losing both during AFCON 2025. This year’s tournament is being held earlier than usual, with hosts Morocco playing the opening match against Comoros on December 22.

Typically, AFCON takes place early in the calendar year — except in 2019 when it was held in the summer.

Cameroon, featuring Mbeumo, will start on December 24 against Gabon, while Ivory Coast, with Diallo, will also play on the same day against Mozambique.

Both teams are in Group F, meaning Mbeumo and Diallo could face each other at AFCON 2025 on December 28 when Cameroon meets Ivory Coast.

AFCON 2025 runs from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026. If either Cameroon or Ivory Coast progresses far in the tournament, MU could be without Diallo or Mbeumo for a significant period.
