At the press conference ahead of the Premier League 2025/26 Round 10 match against Bournemouth, Manchester City's head coach Pep Guardiola admitted that Arsenal is currently an ‘unstoppable team’.
In the Round 10 match held yesterday, Arsenal further demonstrated their strength with a 2-0 away victory over Burnley. This marked the ninth consecutive win for Mikel Arteta’s squad, firmly securing their top position with 25 points after 10 matches, a record far superior to the rest of the Premier League.
During the interview before the Bournemouth game in Round 10 of the Premier League 2025/26, Pep Guardiola did not hesitate to praise Arsenal, who were Manchester City's main rival last season. He stated:
“Arsenal currently looks unstoppable. They play an excellent style, very solid and capable of scoring in various ways. However, we ourselves will improve, play better, and get closer to them.”
Additionally, Guardiola shared insights about the squad situation and the form of attacking players. He believes Manchester City is not solely reliant on Erling Haaland and that the team has multiple goal-scoring sources:
“Our goal tally should have been better. We are aware of that because we have many players capable of scoring. Rayan Cherki and Phil Foden are both performing well, but we need to find players who can make a bigger impact.”
When asked about the pressure on Haaland to carry the attacking burden, Pep responded calmly:
“Haaland is not tired of carrying the scoring responsibility; if he is, he can tell me. Previously, when Marmoush was injured, he couldn’t, but now we have Rayan Cherki. We can play with different formations depending on the opponent.”
“That is why I am optimistic about Manchester City's current standing. In the UEFA Champions League, we are in a better position than last season. We will be more united and capable of winning.”
Clearly, despite Arsenal’s brilliant run, Pep Guardiola remains confident in Manchester City’s resilience, a team that has often overcome adversity to claim the title. This Premier League season promises to be highly competitive, especially as Manchester United is gradually rising.
