On the afternoon of November 3rd, the U17 Vietnam team played an internal friendly match against the U17 Cambodia squad at the PVF Youth Football Training Center.
This was the sixth practice match for Coach Cristiano Roland’s team during their preparation camp for the 2026 AFC U17 Asian Cup qualifiers, and also the first time they faced an international opponent. The U17 Cambodia team is currently in their training phase, aiming to secure a spot in the Southeast Asian regional qualifiers.
To help the players get accustomed to the intensity and nature of an international match and to assess tactical effectiveness, Coach Cristiano Roland and the coaching staff from both sides agreed to conduct the match under official rules, consisting of two 45-minute halves with up to 6 substitutions allowed.
As a result, after two halves, the U17 Vietnam team secured a convincing 5-0 win. Goals in the first half were scored by Chu Ngoc Nguyen Luc and Nguyen Trong Dai Nhan, while Nguyen Minh Thuy, Nguyen Van Duong, and Tran Manh Quan found the net in the second half.
This victory not only boosts U17 Vietnam’s confidence but also provides the coaching staff an opportunity to test the lineup and evaluate the young players’ tactical adaptability before entering the crucial phase of their preparation.
According to the schedule, the two teams will face each other again on the morning of November 5th, before Coach Cristiano Roland finalizes the list of 26 players for the training trip to Japan.
During the training period from November 5th to 15th, the U17 Vietnam team is expected to play three friendly matches arranged by the Japan Football Association. On November 16th, the team will return to Vietnam to complete the final preparations for the 2026 AFC U17 Asian Cup qualifiers, which will take place from November 22nd to 30th, 2025, in Hanoi and Hung Yen.
