Manchester United operates more agilely and effectively without Benjamin Sesko on the field, which clearly demonstrates the sound tactical decision by manager Ruben Amorim ahead of the Tottenham match.

Under coach Ruben Amorim, the decision to bench the Slovenian striker has proven wise; Manchester United simply functions more smoothly without him on the pitch.

In the first half, with Amorim deploying a lineup without a central striker, the Red Devils' attack was dynamic and creative. The trio of Bryan Mbeumo, Amad, and Matheus Cunha combined seamlessly, constantly threatening Tottenham’s goal.

The result came in the 32nd minute when Amad delivered a precise cross for Mbeumo to head in the opener. This play clearly showed the coordination and organization that Man Utd often lacks when Sesko is on the field.

However, when Amorim brought Sesko on in the second half, Man Utd’s gameplay immediately stalled. The front line’s mobility and pace were replaced by heavy, disconnected movements.

Sesko, with his large physique and physical style of play, cannot fit into the fast, flexible attacking style Amorim is building. Just minutes after entering, he missed two clear chances—one due to a poor touch and another because of slow reaction, allowing Micky van de Ven to intervene.

Statistics show that Sesko has only scored 2 goals in 12 matches this season. Although expected to be the main "number 9" after transferring for £74 million, he has made Man Utd’s attack more fragmented whenever he plays. It’s no coincidence that Amorim has benched Sesko five times in the last 11 games, during which Man Utd won two, drew two, and lost only one, indicating better team performance without him.

In contrast, Bryan Mbeumo is the greatest inspiration in attack. Switching from right to left wing, the Cameroonian scored his sixth goal for Man Utd just a day after being named Premier League Player of the Month for October. He consistently threatened Tottenham’s defense and adapted perfectly to Amorim’s strikerless system.

The Portuguese coach was once doubted for his player management, but his choice to exclude Sesko again proves he prioritizes the team’s benefit over individuals. Amorim understands that United’s style works best with fast, skillful, and versatile players, qualities Sesko has yet to demonstrate.

Moreover, after Sesko suffered an injury and left the field early, Man Utd, even with only 10 men, maintained balance and secured a point thanks to a late goal by Matthijs de Ligt. This further confirms the view that currently, Man Utd is stronger and more dangerous without Sesko on the pitch.
