Midfielder Ibrahim Maza was honored with the "Best Young Player in Algeria 2025" award, chosen by the Algerian Football Federation.
Ibrahim Maza is making significant strides in his career. This promising European midfielder of Vietnamese descent has been continuously recognized recently. In less than two weeks, the Bayer Leverkusen talent has been named Man of the Match (MOTM) in the German Cup, Bundesliga, Champions League, and just received another prestigious award.
Specifically, Ibrahim Maza received the "Best Young Player in Algeria 2025" award at the Algeria Football Federation’s Gala Fennec d’Or 2025. He surpassed two other promising young players, Badredine Bouanani (Stuttgart) and Amin Chiakha (Copenhagen), to claim the honor.
Earlier, in the round of 16 of the German Cup, Ibrahim Maza scored a crucial goal for Bayer Leverkusen to defeat Paderborn and earned the Man of the Match award for that game. This was also his first goal for Leverkusen. Afterwards, Maza received the Man of the Match title in Leverkusen’s 1-0 victory over Benfica on November 5th.
On November 8th, Ibrahim Maza continued to shine with a brace that led Leverkusen to a 6-0 win against Heidenheim. Consistently performing well across Leverkusen’s competitions, this young Vietnamese-origin talent is gradually becoming a key player for one of Germany’s top clubs this season.
Born in 2005, Ibrahim Maza has an Algerian father and a Vietnamese mother. Having spent most of his life in Germany, he is eligible to represent three national teams. Although he played for Germany’s youth teams, Ibrahim Maza chose to commit to Algeria at the senior international level. He recently helped Algeria qualify for the 2026 World Cup finals.
Ibrahim Maza is the highest-valued Vietnamese overseas player in history, with a market value of 12 million Euros. He recently joined top German club Bayer Leverkusen for 14 million Euros during last summer. Playing as an attacking midfielder, he is expected to fill the gap left by superstar Florian Wirtz, who moved from Leverkusen to Liverpool.
