According to the draw results for the 2026 AFC U20 Women's Championship final round, the Vietnam U20 women's team has been placed in Group A alongside familiar opponents including host Thailand, China U20 women, and Bangladesh.

Vietnam U20 women share the group with Thailand and China.

This group is considered very challenging for the head coach and the Vietnam U20 women's team. Among them, China U20 women are regarded as the strongest side in the group, having an impressive qualifying performance by winning all three matches, scoring 21 goals, and not conceding any.

The two other main competitors for the official qualification spot in the group are Thailand U20 women and Vietnam U20 women. Both teams have met multiple times in Southeast Asian youth tournaments. The most recent meeting was in the final of the 2025 U19 Women's Southeast Asia Championship held at Thong Nhat Stadium (Ho Chi Minh City), where the young Thai team triumphed 3-1 to win the title. Therefore, this rematch promises to be very exciting. Meanwhile, Bangladesh U20 women are considered the weakest team in this group.
