AGF - FC Copenhagen

Following their hard-earned victory in the "New Firm" derby against Brondby, FC Copenhagen were brought back down to earth with a 2-0 defeat away to AGF on Sunday in the Danish Superliga’s top clash.

Mohamed Elyounoussi missed a golden chance to put the visitors ahead in the second minute when he was clean through against AGF’s goalkeeper Jesper Hansen. On the opposite end, Patrik Mortensen displayed composure to open the scoring for the hosts after Norwegian international playmaker Kristian Arnstad delivered an excellent assist for the 31-year-old striker.

FC Copenhagen tried to fight back and came closest when a goal was disallowed for handball just before halftime. However, in the second half, AGF demonstrated why they lead the league as Rasmus Carstensen extended the lead with a brilliant header after Andreas Cornelius failed to clear a Gift Links corner kick.

FC Midtjylland - FC Nordsjaelland

While AGF kept hold of first place, FC Midtjylland stayed second in the Danish Superliga by achieving their biggest domestic league win in 21 years, beating FC Nordsjaelland 6-0 at home.

Traditionally, FC Midtjylland has struggled to earn points against Jens Fonsskov Olsen’s team when playing in Farum. But on home ground, they had no trouble securing the match within 15 minutes as Ousmane Diao, Dario Osorio, and Aral Simsir had already given the hosts a comfortable 3-0 advantage.

Mike Tullberg’s squad appeared unaffected mentally by Thursday’s loss to AS Roma at the Olimpico, as Franculino scored the fourth just before halftime and added another early in the second half, before Valdemar Byskov sealed the victory on the hour mark.

Silkeborg and Randers, who are near the bottom of the table, cancelled each other out in a 0-0 draw, while OB avenged their earlier 4-0 loss to Vejle this season by returning to winning ways with a 3-0 home victory over Steffen Kielstrup’s team following their recent goalless draw against Randers last weekend.
