U22 Vietnam arrives in Bangkok, ready for the opening match against Laos

This is the first group of the Vietnamese sports delegation arriving in Thailand to prepare for competitions within the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games 33), which will officially open on December 9th.

Counselor of the Vietnamese Embassy in Thailand, Hoang Diem Hanh, came to the airport to welcome Coach Kim Sang Sik and the members of the U22 Vietnam team attending the SEA Games in the “Land of Smiles,” wishing the entire team good health, strong determination, and to compete with full effort to bring glory to the homeland.

At SEA Games 33, Vietnam is in Group B alongside Malaysia and Laos. On December 3rd, Coach Kim Sang Sik’s team will play their opening match against Laos at the Rajamangala National Stadium in Bangkok.

The official list of 23 players participating in SEA Games 33 includes:

Goalkeepers: Tran Trung Kien, Nguyen Tan, Cao Van Binh.

Midfielders: Le Van Thuan, Nguyen Thai Son, Nguyen Xuan Bac, Nguyen Cong Phuong, Khuat Van Khang, Pham Minh Phuc, Le Viktor, Nguyen Phi Hoang, Nguyen Thai Quoc Cuong.

Defenders: Vo Van Quan, Nguyen Hieu Minh, Dang Tuan Phong, Pham Ly Duc, Nguyen Duc Anh, Nguyen Nhat Minh.

Forwards: Nguyen Ngoc My, Nguyen Thanh Nhan, Nguyen Quoc Viet, Nguyen Dinh Bac, Nguyen Le Phat.

Coach Kim Sang Sik has decided to assign the captaincy to midfielder Khuat Van Khang. Born in 2003, he is recognized for his extensive international experience through major tournaments such as the 2023 Asian Cup Finals, the 2024 U23 Asian Cup Finals, and the 2024 ASEAN Cup. Van Khang also played a key role in helping U23 Vietnam win the 2025 U23 Southeast Asian Championship and qualify for the 2026 U23 Asian Cup Finals. The vice-captain is forward Nguyen Dinh Bac.
