At Stamford Bridge, Arsenal faced little difficulty in controlling the game against their city rivals. In fact, the "Gunners" gained an advantage by playing with a man extra early in the first half following Moises Caicedo’s red card.
However, it was the visitors who conceded first with a precise header from Trevoh Chalobah early in the second half. Arsenal responded strongly and equalized through a header by Mikel Merino. Still, that was all the Emirates side could manage for the remainder of the match, resulting in a 1-1 draw.
This result reduced Arsenal’s gap to second-placed Manchester City to just five points.
At Selhurst Park, Manchester United faced considerable challenges against Crystal Palace, who had remained unbeaten in 12 consecutive home Premier League games. This was evident when Jean-Philippe Mateta scored a penalty to give the hosts the lead.
However, the situation shifted dramatically in the second half. Joshua Zirkzee ended his 24-game Premier League goal drought with a remarkable finish from a tight angle. Then, Mason Mount showcased his cleverness with a free-kick curling into the bottom corner to seal a 2-1 comeback victory for the Red Devils.
Meanwhile, Liverpool also struggled at West Ham. It wasn’t until the second half that The Reds regained control and broke the deadlock thanks to new signing Alexander Isak. Notably, this was the Swedish striker’s first Premier League goal for Liverpool.
This goal made things easier for the Merseyside team in the remaining minutes, and they later doubled their lead through Cody Gakpo during stoppage time, securing a 2-0 victory. This result ended Liverpool’s three-match losing streak across all competitions and lifted them into the top half of the table in 8th place.
Manchester City, Chelsea, and Aston Villa currently hold the upper hand in the race for UEFA Champions League spots next season. However, Brighton and newcomers Sunderland remain poised to capitalize on any slip-ups, adding more excitement to the contest.
Meanwhile, Man Utd and Liverpool show signs of revival and could surge forward if they continue to secure positive results in the near future.
