Separated only by goal difference in the Premier League mid-table, Tottenham face Newcastle at St James’ Park. Saturday’s defeat marked Spurs’ 10th home loss in the Premier League this year, and Frank will be glad to see his team playing away this week.

Frank appeals to fans to support Tottenham

Tottenham have been beaten in six of their last seven matches against Newcastle, including the previous four games. Frank aims to reverse this trend in what promises to be a challenging fixture.

Frank first addressed fan dissatisfaction following his team’s defeat to Fulham over the weekend, where supporters booed their own players after the final whistle.

“I fully understand the frustration. When we don’t win, frustration is inevitable. We haven’t had many home wins this season or last, so the frustration builds. It’s my responsibility to help maintain calm.

“We are nothing without the fans. Tottenham Hotspur means nothing without them. My point was that during matches, we need mutual support. After the game, booing is understandable. But during the match, we must create a fortress by standing together.”

Tottenham endured their 10th home defeat of 2025 in the Premier League against Fulham, matching the club’s record for most home league losses in a calendar year. Frank was questioned about the team’s poor run and defensive issues, conceding 13 goals in four matches.

“You could say the four goals we let in against United and Fulham are ones I’d prefer to avoid.

“I think they had five and seven shots respectively, with very low expected goals (xG). In the other two games, we allowed too many shots.”

Team updates

Despite the tense atmosphere surrounding the club currently, Frank shifted to team news and confirmed the entire squad is prepared to improve their form and move up from 12th place in the standings.

“Everyone who was ready for the Fulham game is ready for tomorrow’s match against Newcastle.”

Tottenham also have Cristian Romero returning from a yellow card suspension this week, expected to replace Kevin Danso in defense, providing a much-needed boost for Frank’s side at this critical time.
