AFC congratulates Vietnam U17 team and expresses gratitude to VFF after the successful 2026 U17 Asian qualifiers
The Asian Football Confederation (AFC) has sent a congratulatory letter to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) after the Vietnam U17 team impressively secured first place in Group C at the 2026 U17 Asian qualifiers, thus officially qualifying for the final tournament held in 2026 in Saudi Arabia. In the letter, AFC praised the team’s determination, dedication, and outstanding performance throughout the qualification journey.
Besides congratulating the team, AFC also sincerely thanked VFF and the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) for successfully hosting Group C qualifiers, which took place from November 22 to November 30, 2025, in Hanoi and Hung Yen. AFC acknowledged the commitment, professionalism, and persistent efforts of VFF and LOC in ensuring the tournament was organized and operated according to international standards.
AFC also expressed appreciation for the thorough preparations and warm hospitality provided by the Local Organizing Committee to AFC officials and participating teams throughout the tournament. In closing, AFC wished the Vietnam U17 team continued success and expressed hope to meet again at the 2026 U17 Asian final tournament.
After the match between Vietnam U17 and Malaysia U17 ended with a 4-0 victory, on behalf of the Vietnam Football Federation Executive Committee and Standing Committee, Chairman Tran Quoc Tuan congratulated the entire Vietnam U17 team for their excellent achievement of qualifying for the 2026 U17 Asian finals as Group C winners with four straight wins, and awarded the team a bonus of 600 million VND as encouragement.
During the 2026 U17 Asian qualifiers, the Vietnam U17 team kept a clean sheet and scored a total of 30 goals. This record reflects thorough preparation over the past period; specifically, right after the 2025 U17 Asian finals, the Vietnam Football Federation increased investment in youth player development, aiming for future competitions.
The match against Malaysia U17 on the evening of November 30 was regarded as the “Group C final” because both teams had 12 points before the game, but Vietnam U17 only needed a draw to advance thanks to a superior goal difference. However, the team exceeded expectations by winning convincingly 4-0.
