Interim coach Martin O'Neill will oversee his final match in Wednesday’s home fixture against Dundee before Nancy officially takes over on Thursday.

Nancy comes to Celtic from the MLS side Columbus Crew, where he secured the MLS Cup and Leagues Cup titles and was awarded MLS Coach of the Year in 2024. He also claimed the Canadian Championship in his initial managerial role at CF Montreal.

"I am extremely proud to be appointed as Celtic Manager; this is a huge honor for me and my family," Nancy stated in a club announcement.

"I understand the club’s history, its values, and what is expected from me on this path."

Brendan Rodgers stepped down at the end of October, ending his second tenure after Celtic’s 3-1 loss to league leaders Hearts, leaving them eight points behind the top position, and they were also eliminated from the Champions League by Kairat Almaty.

Former manager O'Neill took over as interim coach, and four straight league victories brought Celtic within two points of Hearts with one game in hand.

"I want to sincerely thank Martin for everything he has done in recent weeks," said Celtic’s main shareholder Dermot Desmond.

"He was the person we hoped would guide us through these past weeks in a positive way."

Nancy’s debut match as manager will be a home game against Hearts on Sunday.
