A promising 1.9m tall Vietnamese overseas footballer from Liverpool emerges for the Vietnam national team

Vietnamese football unexpectedly gains a new bright young talent currently training in a top European environment.

Oliver Gok-Phum Williams, the younger brother of striker Lee Williams (Ho Chi Minh City Police FC), is attracting significant attention from Vietnamese fans. Born in 2010 with mixed English-Vietnamese heritage, he stands out at 1.89m tall and is currently training at the Robbie Fowler Academy, a youth football center affiliated with Liverpool FC.

Oliver mainly plays as a central striker and right winger. Thanks to his superior physique, he often dominates in duels, aerial battles, and physical contests. Training in an authentic English environment helps Oliver develop his fundamental skills, speed, and tactical awareness in a balanced and scientific manner.

At 15, Oliver regularly competes in the Junior Premier League, where young talents from across England fiercely compete. Playing continuously against strong opponents allows him to gain experience and shape a more modern playing style compared to many peers in Southeast Asia.

Notably, Oliver is the younger brother of Lee Williams, a Vietnamese-English player who is making a mark at Ho Chi Minh City Police FC. His older brother’s success in Vietnamese football has been a great motivation for Oliver to pursue opportunities to represent Vietnam’s youth national teams in the near future.

Recently, Lee Williams has impressed by scoring in both the V-League and National Cup, becoming the first Vietnamese-English player to achieve this. His consistent performance and trust from coach Le Huynh Duc have made Lee a standout player for Ho Chi Minh City Police FC, while also attracting more attention to the Williams family.

Lee’s development demonstrates the ability of Vietnamese-English players to integrate well, raising expectations for Oliver, who has been trained from a young age in the English football environment. With ideal height, solid technical foundation, and clear starting point, Oliver is considered one of the most promising Vietnamese overseas players in his age group.
