At the press conference sharing information ahead of the first round of matches in Group B of the women's football eventSEA Games 2025, Coach Mai Đức Chung commented: "On December 5th, the Vietnam women's team will play their first and pivotal match, so we are determined to secure a victory. Every match in Group B is crucial. I highly regard Myanmar and the Philippines as strong opponents. We must win the opening game to have a chance to advance. Our concentration for the first match will be at its highest level.
We will not be complacent because the standard of teams has greatly improved. As you have seen, the U22 Laos team challenged the U22 Vietnam team significantly, so we must be careful and highly determined.
SEA Games 2025 for over a month, with some senior athletes injured, so the current challenge is that the team is undergoing a transition. I will confidently introduce some young players to compete in this SEA Games and will utilize senior players like Huỳnh Như in the most suitable way."
Despite changing circumstances, our aspiration remains unchanged. I believe that the unity and strong will of Vietnamese women will be the strongest weapon for the entire team to overcome difficulties."
