Mbappe is now just short of Cristiano Ronaldo’s seemingly unbreakable record at Real Madrid.
Kylian Mbappe continues to lead Real Madrid’s attack this season. In fact, his performance is even more impressive than his debut season when he won both the Pichichi and the European Golden Shoe.
As the 2025/26 season nears its halfway point, Mbappe has scored 25 goals in 20 matches. This outstanding form has earned him support from Wesley Sneijder in the race for next year’s Ballon d’Or.
Looking more broadly, this explosive performance extends Mbappe’s streak of top form throughout 2025. In fact, 21 of his 31 goals last season were scored in 2025. Across all competitions in the calendar year, the French striker has netted 55 goals.
Thanks to his incredible scoring rate in 2025, Mbappe is now very close to the milestone once considered “unbreakable” by Cristiano Ronaldo. In 2013, CR7 scored 59 goals in a calendar year for Real Madrid, a record even Ronaldo himself couldn’t surpass in later years.
However, Mbappe could easily exceed that number if he scores 5 more goals for Real Madrid in December. The former PSG star has 4 matches to reach this target. Mbappe will play 3 La Liga games against Celta Vigo, Sevilla, and Alaves, plus one match in the Champions League, against Man City.
Among these, the three La Liga matches are seen as ideal opportunities for Mbappe to challenge the record of the club’s greatest goal scorer. The French forward has scored in 16 out of 19 La Liga games this season, averaging 1.06 goals per match. Additionally, Man City, struggling defensively, is not an impenetrable target for Mbappe at the moment.
Therefore, scoring 5 goals in the remaining part of 2025 is not an overly difficult task for Mbappe. If successful, it will be another memorable milestone for him at Real Madrid, the club he has loved since childhood.
