Frank joined Brentford in 2016, was promoted to head coach two years later, and led them to promotion from the Championship in 2021. The Danish coach left the club in June to succeed Ange Postecoglou at Spurs.

"Naturally, it’s a bit more special for me because I’m facing Brentford, where I spent nine years," Frank said to reporters on Thursday before Saturday’s match.

"Almost a quarter of my life was spent there. I had an amazing experience and cherished every moment.

"There are many people I will see on Saturday whom I haven’t seen in a long time, though I used to see them nearly every day, so that will be meaningful."

Considering his clear fondness for Brentford and his history with the club, Frank was asked if he would celebrate should Spurs score on Saturday.

"Yes, I will. Everyone knows how much respect I have for Brentford, the fans, everyone before kickoff and after the final whistle," he responded.

"During the 90 minutes, the focus is one thing: doing everything we can to win the match."

After a strong start to the season, Spurs have failed to win in their last five league matches, losing three, and among their five victories this season, only one has come at home, which was on the opening day in August.

Brentford, on the other hand, are facing challenges away from home, having lost six of their seven away fixtures.

"Saturday is a perfect opportunity for us to secure three points," Frank stated.

"There is only one way to achieve that: deliver a solid performance. Keep working on the areas we focus on constantly.

"Continuously sharpen and speed up our play. Not just direct football, but more penetration when necessary. Play with intensity and courage. I’m excited for the game."

Many predicted Brentford would struggle this season after replacing Frank with a rookie manager, Keith Andrews, and losing several key players, but they currently share 19 points with Spurs in the league table.

"I think it’s a great compliment to Brentford for having the courage to promote internally and also for building something over time," Frank commented.

"It’s certainly not about me, but about what we built together there — that consistency, stability, and high level of performance at this standard.

"That culture, a clear identity and ambition, made it easier to continue by appointing Keith, and I believe he’s done an outstanding job. It’s never easy to take on your first head coach role."
