Xuân Son shared his joy following his hat-trick performance for Nam Định at the Southeast Asian Champions Cup.
On the evening of December 4, forward Nguyễn Xuân Son ignited the pitch at the Southeast Asian Champions Cup (Shopee Cup) with a hat-trick against Shan United, leading Nam Định to an impressive 3-0 victory.
After the match, Xuân Son was honored as the best player. Speaking briefly to fans, the Vietnamese national team striker said:"Hello everyone. I am very happy to be back with the team. Even better that I scored and we won. Let’s look forward to the next match. Go Thép Xanh Nam Định!"
Nam Định faced many challenges as the home team continuously applied high pressure with aggressive pressing. The visitors' attack struggled throughout most of the first half. It wasn’t until the 45th minute that they found a breakthrough when Văn Vĩ won a crucial penalty. From the spot, Xuân Son finished accurately to open the score and build momentum for the second half.
After the break, Nam Định played more fluidly and quickly took control of the game. Brenner, who had just come on, immediately made an impact with a burst of speed and a precise cross that allowed Xuân Son to score again, making it 2-0. In the 81st minute, Shan United was reduced to 10 men after Mark Sekyi received a red card, which further unsettled the home side’s defense. Taking advantage of the opportunity, Xuân Son completed his hat-trick with a decisive spinning shot inside the penalty box, sealing a commanding win for Nam Định.
Although recently returning from injury, Son continues to make a mark at critical moments. His brilliant performance not only helped Nam Định secure an important victory but also reaffirmed his status as a top striker, both for his club and the Vietnamese national team.
