Amorim deeply disappointed with MU after draw against West Ham

Man Utd coach Ruben Amorim criticized his players following the dropped points against West Ham in the 14th round of the Premier League.

Man Utd have continued to show inconsistency recently as they just lost the chance to win against West Ham in the 14th round of the Premier League. This was the second consecutive match at Old Trafford where the "Red Devils" failed to secure a victory, having previously lost three points to Everton despite playing most of the game with a man down.

After the match, coach Ruben Amorim pointed out several unsatisfactory aspects of his players' performance and expressed that Man Utd should have secured the win against the London club.

Specifically, the Portuguese manager stated: "The game was unstable. We had good moments, but lost control slightly in the first half and again a bit in the second half after conceding the equalizer. We should have finished the game immediately after scoring the opening goal.

The match was still under control. We knew that and tried to defend further from our goal. We were aware that set pieces could be a problem due to height differences in the squad, but we should have managed that. We absolutely could have kept possession after the first goal, but ended up dropping points once more."

Additionally, West Ham’s direct playing style caused difficulties for Man Utd, which frustrated Amorim, who was also unhappy with how his players handled the ball when leading.

He added: “Losing the ball in second-ball situations. When they played long, Mateus Fernandes had to chase the ball. They won the first ball and then Bowen pushed forward creating attacks. You cannot control a match like that. We should have done better with possession after the first goal.

We had a very good chance with Cunha. The ball was near the penalty area, but the crosses weren’t good enough. Sometimes the players’ characteristics inside the box don't fit well enough to score from those positions.”

After a frustrating first half, Man Utd took the lead in the 58th minute thanks to a goal from Diogo Dalot. West Ham then intensified their attacks and kept the pressure on. Their efforts paid off in the 84th minute when Soungoutou Magassa skillfully seized a chance inside the box, firing a precise shot to level the match.

That was the last notable moment, ending the game in a 1-1 draw.

With only one point gained, Man Utd missed the chance to break into the top 5, moving up just one place to 8th with 22 points.
