K+ is believed to be shutting down after many years of exclusive Premier League broadcasting.
K+ is expected to cease operations in Vietnam after 16 years. According to Saigontourist Cable Television (SCTV), the K+ channel package will be discontinued from January 1, 2026, which is seen as a sign that K+ will stop operating in Vietnam.
Current users can still watch 5 K+ channels on SCTV until December 31, 2025, after which the signal will be completely cut off on all platforms.
This means K+ is withdrawing from the Vietnamese market amid heavy pressure from the Internet, OTT services, and illegal football streaming, causing a significant drop in revenue.
K+ will close its operations in Vietnam
Since early October, K+ has stopped selling new packages for satellite receivers and TV Boxes, only providing OTT services through mobile apps and websites. Renewal options have also been shortened; by November, users only had two choices: monthly renewal or up to December 31. After December, partners such as FPT Play, MyTV, and TV360 also stopped distributing K+ packages.
Reports about K+ potentially pulling out appeared in July when Canal+, a major shareholder, considered exiting Vietnam due to accumulated losses. Canal+’s CEO highlighted the possibility of a major restructuring or full withdrawal.
Regarding Premier League rights, several sources say FPT Play will take over the contract from K+, enabling users to keep watching the league.
Besides the Premier League, K+ has signed an exclusive agreement to hold rights for AFC tournaments from the 2025/2026 to 2028/2029 seasons in Vietnam, beginning with the AFC Qualifiers (2026 World Cup Asian qualifiers). The agreement between K+ and AFC includes over 25 competitions, notably the 2026 World Cup Asian qualifiers, the 2027 Asian Cup finals, AFC Champions League, and AFC Cup.
