MU has been compared to a pub team

Roy Keane delivered a very harsh critique of Manchester United’s latest performance following their draw with West Ham.

Manchester United missed the chance to break into the top 4 when they were held to a 1-1 draw by West Ham at Old Trafford. The Red Devils took the lead through Dalot in the 58th minute. However, they failed to maintain the advantage as West Ham pushed back and Magassa punished them with a late equalizer in the 83rd minute.

Manchester United’s lackluster display drew widespread criticism, including from the club’s legendary captain Roy Keane. Speaking on Sky Sports, Keane openly condemned his successors: “Leading against a team near the bottom of the table, they slowed down the game. West Ham shouldn’t be underestimated; they deserved to equalize. But Manchester United brought trouble upon themselves.”

Right after scoring, Manchester United began to play more cautiously, retreating deeper and allowing West Ham chances to attack. The visitors’ pressure in the final 15 minutes paid off with Magassa’s equalizing goal.

It’s no longer surprising this season that Manchester United falls back after scoring and then concedes an equalizer. Despite criticism, the Red Devils tend to defend more once they are ahead.

Keane’s criticisms were not only aimed at the players but also at coach Amorim, who made baffling substitutions. The Portuguese manager took off Dalot, Matheus Cunha, and Joshua Zirkzee, bringing on Patrick Dorgu, Manuel Ugarte, and Mason Mount after United’s goal.

Introducing players who tend to defend more did not help Manchester United hold their lead, which only fueled Keane’s frustration.

“They made substitutions, which is normal. But watching the players leave the field as if they just won a championship! Show some determination. Leading 1-0 and playing so casually is unacceptable. Manchester United has better players than West Ham, but this is not a team good enough. The last three or four games have been like this; they aren’t good enough to win.”

“I don’t see anyone angry? No frustration over such a performance. Poor quality, low intensity. They scored twice against Palace, but their defense was like an amateur pub team,” Keane bluntly criticized.

“Every player at Old Trafford now gets a standing ovation when leaving the pitch! Where are the club’s standards? Waiting for something to happen instead of fixing the problems themselves. Relax when leading 3-0, not when it’s 1-0!”, Keane expressed his anger.

The draw leaves Manchester United in 8th place after 14 rounds, just 2 points shy of the top 4. But the worrying factor is their clear decline in form recently. After a run of 3 consecutive wins in October, the Red Devils have only won 1 of their last 5 matches.

Despite a favorable schedule, Amorim’s squad has yet to capitalize and accelerate. In the next match, Manchester United will visit Wolves, who are bottom of the table. This is a perfect chance for the Red Devils to close in on the European qualification spots. Winning is an essential task for them.
