Real Madrid suffered an astonishing defeat to Celta Vigo at the Bernabeu while their coach Xabi Alonso’s side was reduced by two red cards.
In the 15th round La Liga match this season between Real Madrid and Celta Vigo, a huge surprise unfolded as Alonso’s team collapsed at home with a 0-2 loss.
During the first half, although Real Madrid controlled possession, they could not break down Celta Vigo’s defense. Alonso’s team took 11 shots in the first 45 minutes but the goal eluded them. Real Madrid also suffered a blow when Militao got injured and was substituted by Rudiger.
In the second half, Celta Vigo unexpectedly scored in the 54th minute with a brilliant finish by Williot following a low cross from Zaragoza, leaving goalkeeper Courtois helpless.
Williot scored the opening goal for Celta Vigo.
After conceding, Real Madrid tried to attack but remained stuck. The home side was further disadvantaged when Fran Garcia was shown a red card in the 64th minute for fouling Williot.
