WTT Hong Kong Finals Schedule! First Day Matches Announced: Five Matches for Chinese National Team Against Foreign Opponents, Wang Manyu Faces Hina Hayata

On December 10th Beijing time, the WTT Hong Kong Finals officially kick off today. As per the schedule, winners in men's and women's singles and mixed doubles will be crowned. Being the first day of competition, the schedule is out, with mixed doubles quarterfinals and eight quarterfinal slots in men’s and women’s singles to be decided. Matches begin at 10:30 AM one after another. The spotlight matches are Wang Manyu against Hina Hayata and Wang Chuqin versus Teruhiro Matsushima!

This finals event marks the year-end climax for table tennis, featuring extremely high-level competitors. The participants are mostly the season’s top performers from various associations. In mixed doubles, there are 8 pairs, and 16 players each in men’s and women’s singles. The Chinese national team is competing on home ground aiming for titles in all three categories. Their lineup is impressive, including two star mixed doubles pairs — the “Anime” and “Shao Tou” duos. For singles, 11 players qualified, with the Chinese team facing five international matches and one internal showdown today!

This morning, mixed doubles opened the tournament with a fierce battle between Japan and Spain. Next, Chen Xingtong from the Chinese team took the stage first, facing teammate Shi Xunyao in a tough internal clash. Chen Xingtong’s superior skills made it relatively easy to defeat Shi Xunyao. Then Chen Yi faced Zhu Yuling from Macau. Chen Yi, a rising young talent, has shined this season. Zhu Yuling has beaten Chen Yi three times in a row, including winning the US Grand Slam final this year by defeating Chen Yi, so Zhu Yuling holds a strong chance to win again. Later, the mixed doubles pairs Shao Tou and Anime will compete against teams from India and Hong Kong. Our overall strength is greater, and reaching the semifinals is highly expected!

Tonight features two major battles: Wang Manyu versus Hina Hayata. Wang Manyu, ranked second in the world, has beaten Hina Hayata eight times consecutively. Their last encounter was at the Mixed Team World Cup, where Wang Manyu dominated decisively, showing overwhelming superiority. Under normal performance, Hina Hayata’s chances of winning are very slim, almost nonexistent. Wang Chuqin will face Japan’s strong player Teruhiro Matsushima, who has previously defeated Wang Chuqin. This puts pressure on Wang Chuqin, who faces a serious challenge and must strike hard to crush his opponent and avoid an upset!
