Barcelona wants Manchester United to reduce Rashford's price by ten million! The star follows Antony's example, rejecting other transfers.

Reports indicate that Barcelona aims to buy Rashford from Manchester United but seeks a €10 million discount! As per the existing loan contract, the Spanish champions can exercise an option to purchase the 28-year-old English winger for €30 million at the end of the season, including a €5 million performance-based bonus. They hope United will accept lowering the permanent transfer fee to €20 million, maintaining the €5 million variable sum.

Rashford still has two and a half years left on his Manchester United contract, with a weekly wage of £325,000. Barcelona believes the Red Devils will be eager to cut wage costs and thus eventually agree to a price reduction, similar to the summer deal with La Liga side Real Betis for the Brazilian star Antony, worth €100 million.

Manchester United initially hoped to sell Antony, who revived his form in La Liga, for €40 million but ultimately had to accept Betis's offer of €25 million, which included a €3 million variable amount. The Red Devils only compensated by increasing their share of any future resale by 50%.

Like Antony, Rashford has a high salary and only wants to join Barcelona. He may cooperate with the La Liga giants to pressure Manchester United. According to Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Rashford agreed to a 15% pay cut during his loan to join Barcelona, who pay him 75% of his Manchester United wages—about €14 million pre-tax annually. Additionally, he receives bonuses based on appearances, accounting for roughly 10% of his salary.

Regarding whether Barcelona will make Rashford's transfer permanent, Romano stated: "Rashford's future is not yet decided; Barcelona is in no rush. This is not a matter for December or January but for the end of the season. Barcelona will make the decision based on both tactical and financial considerations. Besides the buyout clause, his salary is also a significant factor. Barcelona is very satisfied with Rashford, and coach Hans Flick is pleased with him, so internally the mood is positive. However, nothing is finalized yet, and Barcelona has not had any communication with Rashford or Manchester United at this moment."

With key Barcelona players like Lewandowski and Raphinha returning from injury, Rashford now mostly sits on the bench, which was his intended role when Flick brought him in. The Manchester United star serves as a rotational player for Barcelona. Moreover, the Spanish club hopes this will lay the groundwork for negotiating a lower price in the future.

At the same time, Flick publicly praised Rashford’s attitude after moving to the bench, saying he did not disrupt the locker room harmony but instead accepted the reduced playing time maturely. Data shows that in Barcelona’s last six matches, Rashford came on as a substitute in the second half three times. In the Champions League match against Frankfurt, he provided an impressive assist.

Flick said: "Whenever a player is not in the starting lineup, I talk to them. The last time I spoke with Rashford, he told me, ‘Coach, you don’t need to explain your decisions to me.’ He said, ‘The most important thing is the team; we must get these three points. Everything else is less important.’ This mindset is exactly what we need. I’m very happy to have him. Him sitting on the bench shows we have a strong and deep squad. I must say, he is an extremely professional player. At first, he needed some time to adapt, but now he is performing at his best level."

Recently, there have been many rumors about Rashford transferring to other clubs, such as exchanging wingers with Paris Saint-Germain’s Balogun or moving to Tottenham to be a starter. However, "TEAMtalk" reports that Rashford is determined and has no interest in playing for any club other than Barcelona next season, including Manchester United.

British media say Rashford has informed Manchester United that he only wants to complete a permanent transfer to stay at Camp Nou and will reject all other clubs’ offers, including lucrative proposals from Saudi Arabia. Nevertheless, this stance is expected to cause problems for Manchester United’s senior management.

According to TEAMtalk, Barcelona has told Manchester United they want Rashford to remain with the team after this season, but they lack funds and thus seek a bigger discount. Manchester United originally hoped that rumors involving Tottenham and PSG would help them secure a reasonable transfer fee for Rashford.

However, Rashford, following Antony’s example, refuses to negotiate with any other clubs. Therefore, Manchester United fears Barcelona may not only ask for a lower transfer fee but might also request to keep him on loan next season before finalizing a purchase a year later.
