Players unable to break into the Manchester United lineup see Serie A as a perfect destination. McTominay led the way, Heaton followed, and now Napoli wants to bring in more United players lacking playing opportunities, believing strongly they can rejuvenate these discarded talents in Italy.
According to journalist Marco Conterio, Napoli is actively negotiating for Manchester United’s 20-year-old English midfielder Meunier. Since he isn’t getting playing time under Amorim, Meunier and his agent are pushing for this transfer. Meunier aims to leave United in the January 2026 window to join Napoli and compete in Serie A and the Champions League, boosting his chances of making England’s 2026 World Cup squad. However, this depends on him getting regular playing time and performing well. Due to Africa Cup absences, United is reluctant to let Meunier go in winter, but the player is strongly determined to leave.
The 20-year-old Meunier can operate in multiple midfield roles, both attacking and defensive midfield. Standing 1.80 meters tall and right-footed, he is valued at 40 million euros on Transfermarkt, with significant potential for growth and market value increase.
From a personal perspective, with McTominay and Heaton already at Napoli, alongside former Manchester City player De Bruyne (currently injured), Meunier choosing Napoli would be an excellent decision. It would help him regain confidence and truly embark on the path to stardom.
