Bruno Fernandes' candid and emotional statements have stirred public opinion, as the Manchester United captain openly claimed that the club is willing to let him go for financial reasons.
Bruno Fernandes is becoming the center of attention not only for his skills, but also for his rare and strong revelations about his relationship with Manchester United. Amid the club’s crisis under Ruben Amorim, the Portuguese midfielder admitted he clearly feels the club considers his potential departure an acceptable option.
In an interview with Canal 11, Fernandes did not shy away from discussing finances and his future. “I have no complaints, I am very well paid, but money has never been the main driver for me”, he said.
According to the Man United captain, if one day he has to move to Saudi Arabia to play, he is ready—not for money, but because of the living conditions and new environment. “My children’s lives would be better, and I would play in a growing league with many famous players”.
However, what truly shocked the public was Fernandes’ direct assertion about the club’s stance. “The club wants me to leave, I know that. I told the board, but I think they don’t have the courage to make that decision”. This statement immediately sparked controversy, as Fernandes has long been seen as a symbol of fighting spirit at Old Trafford.
The 30-year-old midfielder said he could easily apply pressure to leave like many others. “I could say I don’t want to train anymore, just want to leave for 20 or 30 million euros to earn more money”. But he insists he has never done so, because his affection for Manchester United remains intact. “I have never felt I could do that, because my attachment to the club has not changed”.
Although choosing to stay, Fernandes admitted that feeling replaceable hurt him deeply. “From the club’s side, I feel like they are saying it’s okay if I leave. That really pains me”. According to him, the sadness comes not only from the management but also from what he has witnessed in the locker room. “You see players who don’t value the club and don’t defend the club… that makes you sad”.
Fernandes emphasized that he is always ready to play, regardless of circumstances. “I always perform, whether good or bad, I always give my best”. Therefore, feeling no longer central to long-term plans has increasingly weighed on his mind.
With a contract lasting until 2027, Bruno Fernandes’ frank comments are putting Manchester United in a difficult position.
