Manchester United's £7 million left-back refuses to leave in the winter transfer window! The truth about contacts with Ndidi revealed, both remain targets.

Diego León, the £7 million left-back signed by Manchester United, has once again declined a loan move. His agent, Renato Bittar, publicly denied any possibility of his player being loaned out in January. Nice, owned by Sir Jim Ratcliffe, showed interest, but the club's turmoil deterred León from joining.

Bittar told "Versus Sports": "When Diego (León) arrived in Manchester, United presented us with a development plan. His progress is on track, with positive momentum, fully meeting expectations. No one has mentioned any interest from Nice to me."

León has yet to make his Manchester United debut and has mostly played with the under-21 squad, gradually adapting to English football. Under Carrick, there are two left-backs, Luke Shaw and Patrick Doody, while right-backs Diogo Dalot and Mazraoui can also cover the position. Mazraoui was even named in the recent Africa Cup of Nations best XI as a left-back!

Manchester United might not sign new players in the winter window, but rumors about contacts with potential targets keep surfacing. This week, reports emerged that United approached former Premier League defensive midfielder Wilfred Ndidi from Leicester City. According to the UK’s Daily Mail, Turkish club Besiktas initiated contact with United to propose a loan for the Nigerian veteran.

Ndidi has frequently been linked with Manchester United since his Premier League days, including when he left Leicester City on a free transfer last summer. However, United have already declined the deal, indicating the Red Devils will not pursue this potential transfer.

Previously, Manchester United have been linked with two other midfielders who played in the Premier League. AC Milan is willing to loan out England international Ruben Loftus-Cheek. Yet, Italian transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reports that Aston Villa is more proactive and has inquired about Loftus-Cheek’s availability, as their midfielder Kamara is sidelined with injury and needs a replacement.

The story between 28-year-old Portuguese international Ruben Neves and Manchester United is more longstanding. His contract with Saudi Arabian league leaders Al Hilal expires this summer, fueling rumors of a €20 million transfer fee. However, these reports lack concrete progress and mostly revolve around Neves’ willingness to join United and accept a pay cut.

The Daily Mail reports that it is unlikely Manchester United will sign either of the two "Rubens." The club is still considering strengthening the squad this month but will only act if an exceptional opportunity arises.

Manchester United may want to leave some transfer decision power to next season’s head coach, a choice that remains undecided. According to "Athletic," Carrick’s popularity surged after Derby’s win over Manchester City, while Crystal Palace’s Oliver Glasner has garnered 25% support.

Reportedly, 42% favor Carrick, who remains unbeaten in four matches as United’s interim manager, with wins against Guardiola (Man City), Arteta (Arsenal), Emery (Villarreal), and a draw versus Tuchel (Chelsea), all coaches with distinct tactical styles.

Glasner has announced he will leave Crystal Palace at season’s end, making him available for free to other clubs. However, doubts exist about whether his tactical approach fits Manchester United. Palace currently ranks third-lowest in the Premier League for average possession per game at just 42.9%. Only five teams attempt more long passes than them. Glasner favors a three-defender system and is not among the fans’ most popular coaching candidates.

Other popular managerial candidates for Manchester United include Marseille’s De Zerbi, with 19% support. Former Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca (10%) ranks fourth, and England manager Tuchel (5%) is fifth. Different coaches may have varying midfield requirements; for example, Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-3 formation does not favor Cody Meno, who thrives under Carrick’s 4-2-3-1 system.
