The African national team is rewarded with coastal land thanks to their championship victory

Following their achievement on the African stage, the Senegal national team received special rewards, attracting significant public attention.

Winning the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations brought great pride to Senegalese football, not only for the title but also for the exceptional rewards that accompanied it. President Bassirou Diomaye Faye announced a prize package worth 6.2 million USD along with tens of thousands of square meters of land for the players and coaching staff.

In the final held at Prince Moulay Abdellah Stadium, Senegal defeated the host nation Morocco after a tense and controversial match. The referee disallowed a Senegal goal and later awarded Morocco a penalty, provoking a strong reaction from Senegal’s players who briefly left the field.

It was captain Sadio Mané who calmed his teammates, urging the team to return to the game. This decision became a turning point. When Brahim Diaz missed the penalty, Senegal regained control and Pape Gueye scored the decisive goal, securing their second Africa Cup of Nations title in history.

Upon returning to Dakar, the Senegal national team was welcomed as national heroes. Thousands of fans flooded the streets to join the celebratory parade, turning the capital into a sea of people in a festive atmosphere. Their success in North Africa further enhanced the significance of this achievement.

Impressed by the team’s fighting spirit and determination, President Faye decided to grant a record prize. Each player received 135,000 USD (approximately 3.5 billion VND) plus a 1,500 m² plot of land in the coastal Petite Côte area, known for its high real estate value and great potential.

Not only the players were honored; the Senegalese coaching staff each received 90,000 USD (about 2.3 billion VND) and a 1,000 m² plot of land. Other team members were awarded 35,000 USD (around 920 million VND) and 500 m² of land, reflecting comprehensive recognition of the collective effort.

With the victory over Morocco, Senegal defeated the host nation for the first time at AFCON after five previous losses. The team now holds an 18-match unbeaten streak in the tournament, the second longest in history, behind Egypt’s record of 24 matches.
