The Malaysian club Kelantan Red Warrior (KRW) has just received highly positive news from the Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA).
According to the Malaysian media outlet Bharian, the management of Kelantan Red Warrior confirmed they received an official document from FIFA on January 22, stating that the transfer ban imposed since December 19 last year has been permanently lifted.
In the reply letter sent to KRW, FIFA stated that the related legal proceedings have been concluded after the former assistant coach of Kelantan FC, Mr. Pol Corpas, failed to respond to requests for clarification regarding the complaint for rights. This means the ban on registering new players has been permanently removed, allowing KRW to return to the transfer market and complete player registration procedures according to regulations.
Speaking to the press, a representative from Kelantan Red Warrior’s management emphasized that the club was not directly involved in the dispute and that being affected by FIFA’s sanction was very unfortunate.
The KRW club stated: “This issue should not have been directed at KRW because we are a club unrelated to the previously reported troubles. Many of the club’s activities, especially player registrations, have been stalled recently.”
With the new confirmation from FIFA, the club based in Kota Bharu is now eligible to register new players to prepare for the remainder of the 2025/26 season.
Previously, the team coached by Irfan Bakti Abu Salim had successfully reached agreements to sign two foreign players, notably the Brazilian striker Wesley Leal Barnaske to strengthen their attack. However, due to the FIFA-imposed ban, these new recruits have not been able to participate in matches so far.
With the lifting of the sanction, Kelantan Red Warrior is likely to complete the registration process soon and integrate the new players into the squad, thereby enhancing squad depth for the final stage of the season. FIFA’s decision not only relieves KRW of psychological pressure but also plays a crucial role in the club’s ambitions to compete in domestic competitions.
